It’s important to read the Apostolic Fathers. They shed light on Scripture—but they don’t settle many theological questions, it seems to me, and they aren’t Scripture.
As much was revealed to us in Scripture as we actually needed, at bottom. History and archaeology shed light, again, but neither overrule Scripture nor settle many, if any, *truly important* matters.
